Acura’s offering into the sports luxury segments have always been enticing prospects earning themselves worthy second looks as serious competitors for their German rivals. Their saloons and crossovers are known for their design and refinement as much as Acura’s balance of luxury and sporty elements. The 2013 Acura TL brings together all of Acura’s core values and technology putting everything they’ve learned over the years into one seriously delectable package.
The 2013 Acura TL is one of the most striking automobiles you will see today; resembling a four door coupe and bringing the power to match. With a choice of two V6 engines as well as all wheel drive, the 2013 Acura TLhas all the firepower it needs to clear its path through the competition with relative ease. What’s more, the comfort and safety technology available in a car of these dimensions at the price Acura is asking for it questions the very need to look at any other options.
2013 Acura TL – Performance:
With two available drivelines, the 2013 Acura TLliterally caters to buyers from two very demanding markets – the stylish luxury saloon as well as the sports luxury saloon high on styling, but more focused on dynamic performance.
First up, the front wheel drive model has a big and refined 3.5L V6 making 280 hp at 6,200 rpm and a healthy 254 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. It is paired to Acura’s silky smooth and extremely quick-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift paddle controls which make use of their Grade Logic Control. This is the most fuel efficient combination for the 2013 Acura TL returning 29 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city, with a combined 23 mpg.
Next up, the all wheel drive model comes with a bigger 3.7L V6 which makes 305 hp at 6,300 revs and a healthier 273 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. The Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) is front-biased with 90% of the power going to the front. When the situation demands, up to 70% is sent to the rear with 100% rear wheel torque distribution available to either side wheel when necessary. The 2013 Acura TL SH-AWD model is available with the 6-speed automatic with Sequential SportShift or a 6-speed manual transmission with a heavy duty clutch as well. Enthusiast drivers will no doubt opt for the manual version which offers the most engaging drive of the lot. The fuel efficienct figures aren’t too bad either with the Automatic offering 26 mpg highway and 18 mpg city with 21 mpg combined. The Manual returns 25 mpg highway and 17 mpg city with a combined figure of 20 mpg.

2013 Acura TL – Exterior, Interior and Technology:
The 2013 Acura TL looks every bit the high-end Acura it is with sharp styling details and generous proportions contained brilliantly within attractive lines. The pointed front grille dressed in chrome is complemented by the garnished front air intakes below with the headlamp clusters sweeping out to the sides into a rather pronounced and muscular shoulder line, which with the crease from the front wheel arches, hints at the aggression packaged under the hood. The sloping roof and tapered rear windows look sleek and enhance the sporty character of the car without imposing on rear headroom. The rear is just as sharp with twin retangular tail pipes and the tail gate endowed with a point not unlike the front. Overall, the 2013 Acura TL is a sharp design in every sense of the word.
Inside the 2013 Acura TL is an interior which looks familiar but which has received considerable attention to make it as appealing as it is pleasing to look at. The steering wheel and center console scream functionality with a number of buttons integrated well with the design flow. The trim accents lend a good contrast to the ambience with the perforated leather upholstery adding loads to the impeccably high quality feel. The front seats themselves are extremely comfortable and ergonomic with multiple powered adjustments and side bolster support allowing you to create a bucket seat layout to perfectly complement your driving style. The rear offers generous amounts of head room and leg room with incredible long distance comfort. The cabin sound levels are low allowing for a smooth, quiet and relaxing ride; all in all making the 2013 Acura TL one of the best sports luxury family saloons out there.
Another huge strong point the 2013 Acura TL has going for it is the extensive feature list. You get automatic climate control, a premium sound system with USB, iPod integration and Bluetooth as standard.
