For some, style come naturally and Acura car models have always enjoyed distinctive styling to go along with their engaging personality as cars. However, when Acura decide to create something new and more exciting; you can only imagine it’s going to be something quite unlike anything we’ve seen before. And the 2013 Acura ZDX is just that – an Acura which bridges segments and gives you the best of all worlds!
While many regards the BMW X6 as the first completely out of the box design when it comes to activity crossover coupes; it wasn’t as functional as you would expect. It was too big and heavy to enjoy on the road and tried too hard to be car like at the same time, which meant it wasn’t much good off road either. The 2013 Acura ZDX on the other hand uses all of Acura’s know-how to bring a blend of luxury, sporty and off road characteristics in one wholesome and attractive package – something which isn’t easy to do at all. What you get is a powerful V6 engine with an automatic transmission and intelligent four wheel drive which when coupled to the interior space and flexibility together with Acura’sreliability and smooth performance mean it’s probably all the car you’ll ever need.

2013 Acura ZDX – Performance:
The 2013 Acura ZDX is a smart and more efficient all-rounder whichever way you look at it. While it weighs almost four and a half tons, the the 3.7L V6 VTEC engine under the hood makes 300 hp at 6,500 revs and 270 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm – more than enough to move this sculpted beast in a hurry. The 6-speed automatic Sequential SportShift transmission does a fine job of transferring the power to the Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system. What’s more, this intelligent system uses Cornering G Shift Control system, Grade Logic and Shift Hold making the 2013 Acura ZDX not just easy to maneuver but also extremely stable around corners and relatively light on its feet.

The driveline of the 2013 Acura ZDX is front-biased by default, sending 90% of the power to the front and 10% to the rear. When required, the system automatically sends up to 70% to the rear with 30% up front. Furthermore, rear wheel torque can be dynamically shifted 100% to either the left or right wheel depending on which of them has better traction and will be most effective in correcting the car’s line should the stability assist detect a possible loss of control.
Fuel efficiency would not really be a top priority for someone choosing a vehicle of this calibre, but the 2013 Acura ZDX doesn’t disappoint; delivering up to 23 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in city conditions with a combined figure of 19 mpg. Not bad at all!

2013 Acura ZDX – Safety:
With a creation like the ZDX, Acura couldn’t go on without making it every bit the technological marvel when it comes to safety and the 2013 Acura ZDX is loaded literally from nose to tail with the most advanced safety systems Acura has to offer. While Acura’s advanced compatibility engineered body in the basic building block along with their Vehicle Stability Assist and antilock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution; preventive safety moves to another level with the optional Advance pack bringing in a blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control system as well as collision mitigating braking system (CMBS).

The CMBS uses a radar transmitter in the front grille of the 2013 Acura ZDX to constantly monitor the distance and closing speeds to vehicles ahead and apply braking pressure as needed to avoid a collision in case the vehicle in front suddenly stops. Upon detecting a possible front-end collision, the system alerts the driver audibly and visually. If there’s no response, it starts tightening the seat belt and applying light brake pressure. In case of city speeds or imminent collision, it will step in and apply strong braking pressure while alerting the driver and tightening the seat belts. At higher speeds, this vastly reduces the chances of an impact and drastically reduces any damage to your vehicle or the one in front. The CMBS is intended as a driver aid and alert system and not a replacement for braking altogether.
Protective safety is also given as high a priority with the 2013 Acura ZDX being equipped with advanced seat belt restraint systems and six airbags including a pairs of front, side and curtain airbags. Child safety is also high on the checklist with LATCH child seat anchors provided where needed while the Occupant Position Detection System automatically deploys or withholds the front passenger airbag depending on the size of person in the seat.

2013 Acura ZDX – Exterior, Interior and Technology:
The 2013 Acura ZDX is unlike any other Acura and even unlike most other cars. The high and wide stance lends the body with huge road presence while the sloping roof and taut rear end demand a second look. The signature Acura front grille take pride of place between the sharp xenon HID headlamp clusters which lead into a rising shoulder live. The side windows appear quite narrow but add to the solid look when considered with the large doors. Getting in and out is easy even at the back with interior space being masked by the deceptive roofline.
